The History Society & Malmesbury Abbey are organising an important and unusual day of expert talks at the Abbey on Saturday
15th July 2017 on the life and work of the great 12th century historian, William of Malmesbury.
William was one of the most significant and prolific writers of his time and has been described as the most learned man in 12th century Europe. Four top academic experts on William have agreed to speak – keynote speaker is Professor Rod Thomson (University of Tasmania) acknowledged as the world’s leading authority on William. Rod will give a distinctively local slant to his talk which will investigate Malmesbury Abbey as it was at the time of William.
